Earl Grey Fishing Charters

Description

Welcome to Earl Grey Fishing Charters as featured on Sir Peter Blake's Favourite Places Documentary. Based in the beautiful Bay of Islands, Northland, New Zealand, less than 3 hours drive north of Auckland, we offer fishing adventures in waters dotted with 144 islands and a myriad of secluded beaches.

Captain Steve Butler, with over 30 years of local knowledge and a worldwide reputation as a professional saltwater fishing guide, leads our charters. We offer a full range of fishing options including saltwater fly, light tackle, live baiting, and jig fishing, catering to both novice and experienced anglers.

Species available include Yellowtail Kingfish, Snapper, Hapuka (Groper), Trevally, Golden Snapper, Mao Mao, Marlin, John Dory, Tuna, Sharks, and Kahawai. These waters also attract dolphins, orcas, whales, and various Southern Ocean bird species.

Our charters include Yellowtail Kingfish/Reef fishing, where Steve's expertise in live baiting shines. We also offer Snapper/Bottom fishing trips and seasonal Marlin fishing from January to April.

We provide exclusive charters or shared group options, with pickup from Paihia, Waitangi, or Russell Wharf. Quality fishing tackle is provided, though anglers can bring their own gear. We offer morning tea/coffee, and can arrange for smoking, canning, or vacuum packing of your catch.

Earl Grey Fishing Charters follows a sustainability protocol, encouraging the release of fish not required for eating. We use terminal tackle setups that ensure hookups in the corner of the fish's mouth plate for responsible catch and release.

For the best action fishing in the Bay of Islands, join us aboard Earl Grey II. We're committed to providing the best fishing opportunities and customer satisfaction, as evidenced by our excellent return clientele.
