Regulations
Customs regulations are very simple in Italy.
Yachts entering the country must visit a Border Police Office. Here the skipper must present a crew list and passports. There is a Border Police Office inside Porto San Rocco.
If travelling from an EU country, there is no requirement for customs clearance, however, if travelling from outside the EU (e.g. Croatia) please contact customs.
Please note: a non EU flag boat will enter in Italy and have 18 months of temporary import. After that period the boat must exit toward a non EU Country, unless the owner pays the VAT on the value of the boat.
Even leaving for one day outside the EU to Croatia satisfies this requirement, before returning to renew temporary import for another 18 months.
Pilotage
Porto San Rocco is located in the Bay of Muggia, on the south side of the Gulf of Trieste, near the border with Slovenia.
To reach the marina by sea, you need to enter the Bay of Muggia, inside the Gulf of Trieste. The marina entrance is protected by a breakwater and the approach is straightforward.
The breakwater is 50 metres wide and is indicated by two green and red flashing lights, the co-ordinates of which are: 45°36′.62N 13°45′.15E. There are no problems with depth inside the marina.
Please contact the marina on VHF channel 74 or 16 on arrival or call +39 040 273090. The Porto San Rocco team are ready to provide mooring assistance 24/7.
