Originally built by Sir Robin Knox Johnston, Mercury is situated in a sheltered wooded site where the shallow waters of Badnam Creek join the River Hamble. Just a twenty minute walk from Hamble village, the marina offers berthing for 360 boats and enjoys deep water at all states of tide. Among its excellent facilities are a chandlery as well as a bar and restaurant with waterfront views.
It is a scenic, peaceful spot, which still provides easy access to Southampton Water and the Solent. There are plenty of other tranquil anchorages to visit, such as Newtown Creek on the Isle of Wight or the pretty Beaulieu River.
Further afield is Poole Harbour and to the east lie Portsmouth and the sheltered waters of Chichester Harbour.
There’s always activity on the River Hamble, with fleets of racers out every weekend during the summer. Throughout autumn, many hardy sailors participate in the Hamble Winter Series. Mercury Yacht Harbour also provides an ideal base from which to visit some of our other marinas in the Southampton area. Nearby Ocean Village Marina boasts two cinemas along with restaurants and bars; a wide range of marine services are available at Shamrock Quay and Hamble Point Marina.
Whether you’re heading off into the Solent or returning to port, it’s always reassuring to know that MDL has high quality refuelling facilities close at hand. Our fuel berth at nearby Port Hamble Marina sells both petrol and diesel seven days a week. Late night opening during summertime makes life even simpler.
The Port Hamble Marina fuel berth is located at an easily accessible point on the end of B pontoon. Fuel is supplied exclusively by Shell to ensure consistently high quality, and we also stock a range of oils and additives. Also very handy, are the discounts available to Club Outlook members and for those embarking on longer voyages, volume fuel discounts are available. Please ask for details.
