Bareboat Hire and Boat Charters

Hire a Bareboat or Skippered Yacht, Launch or Runabout in our wonderful cruising area we have here in the Marlborough Sounds.

At Compass Charters our crew provide quality yacht, launch and boat charters and hire the Magical Marlborough Sounds, New Zealand. Here in this vast and unspoilt cruising area in the South Pacific, we have a large range of self-drive (bareboat) and skippered sailboats or powerboats available for you and your crew:

You can set the pace of your floating holiday on one of our yachts or boats or launches. Enjoy one of Marlborough’s famous wines while lazing around on deck, anchored in a picturesque cove. Enjoy some exhilarating sailing or don a mask and snorkel to gather some seafood. Check up on the history and follow in the footsteps of the 18th century explorers or visit the remnants of the whaling station. Throw your fishing line & tackle over the side and hook up a cod or a couple of terakihi. Scuba dive on some historical wrecks. Jump overboard for a refreshing swim or explore the shores and beaches with your tender.

Study the native bird life on Motuara Island while listening to the beautiful call of the bellbirds. Admire the magical views over the Sounds while hiking some of the tracks through the native forests that are accessible from the water. Varied wildlife will keep you thrilled. Visit the gannets or you might encounter penguins, swim with seals, see dolphins or if lucky whales. Cook up a BBQ onboard or hop ashore and enjoy a meal at one of the Resorts scattered around the Sounds. Anchor up for the night in another gorgeous bay or pull up one of our safe and private moorings throughout the cruising area. Wake up to the birdsong coming from the native bush at the water’s edge, ready for another day full of joys.
