CharterLink’s office is at the road entrance to Bayswater Marina on Auckland’s North Shore.  Free visitor parking is opposite the office just inside the pay barrier on the road, Sir Peter Blake Parade, Bayswater.

Experience a great New Zealand boating holiday – charter a sail-boat or sailing catamaran from CharterLink Auckland  – bareboat (sail yourself) or skippered – in the magic of the Hauraki Gulf or Bay of Islands.

Sail from our base in Auckland’s Bayswater marina, to the islands, superb beaches and anchorages of the Hauraki Gulf. Cruise the coast to the Bay of Islands. Enjoy the fishing, snorkeling, diving while taking in the unspoilt scenery…

CharterLink is one of the largest bareboat charter companies in NewZealand, and the only fleet operating out of Auckland. (There are a few single-boat operators here also.) But if you are ‘shopping around’ on the Web to sail the Hauraki Gulf, then other apparent options are likely to be booking agents showing you CharterLink boats. We like to work with you directly to make sure you get a great sailing holiday!

What is the weather like in the Hauraki Gulf or Bay of Islands?

Winds predominantly Westerly. Summer mean temperatures 18 to 23 degrees Celcius.

Where do you start?

CharterLink has put together some ideas to help you plan your holiday afloat.

Check out the Hauraki Gulf, the Coast or the Bay of Islands Itineraries in our Knowledgebase.

Please note however, that destinations and anchorages are subject to suitable weather conditions prevailing at the time of your charter. During your briefing our staff will discuss this further with you, and share their local knowledge prior to your leaving the dock. On board your vessel you will find the Royal Akarana Yacht Club Coastal Cruising Guide and the Hauraki Gulf Boaties’ Atlas to assist you in planning in your cruising holiday.

Sailing to the Bay of Islands

We allow skippers who have coastal navigation and sailing experience to sail up the coast if they have 10 days in which to do so.

It is a stunning coastline – the northern half protected from the passage of large ships by an international covenant. 10 days is a minimum due to distance and weather.

You can sail one-way and leave the vessel at Opua (You pay a one-way fee) or sail there and back. We only start charters from Bayswater so one-way trips are northwards only
