A trip to Bermuda would be incomplete for an ardent fisherman without 'wetting' a line! Enjoy a great day of deep sea fishing, where luck and skill combine for an unforgettable experience. Let Bermudan fishing charters ensure a first-class fishing adventure in our beautiful Bermuda waters.
If your fishing knowledge is limited, fear not—coaching every step of the way might just turn you into the next World Record holder! Boats will take you to prime locations to increase your chances of landing Marlin, Wahoo, or Tuna.
Your safety is our utmost concern, and charter boats come fully equipped to meet Bermuda's offshore fishing regulations.
Fishing Equipment: Tournament tackle ranging from 12lb to 130lb, fighting chairs, outriggers, downriggers, kites, and all accessories for modern game fishing are provided. If you're unsure about the right tackle for various situations, we'll gladly assist you in making the best choice.
Bermuda Fishing: The official fishing season, as per the Department of Tourism, runs from May to November, but charters like Playmate operate year-round, weather permitting. Bermuda's location on the migratory path for Tuna and Wahoo makes it ideal for fishing even outside the main season.
Bermuda waters host over 27 varieties of game fish, including Blue & White Marlin, Yellow & Black Fin Tuna, Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi), Wahoo, Great Barracuda, Amberjack, and various Sharks, including the impressive Tiger Shark in August and September.
Seasonal Fishing Highlights:
- March-April: Yellowfin Tuna, Blackfin Tuna, and Wahoo are prime targets.
- May: Large Yellowfin Tuna up to 100lbs appear, with ongoing Wahoo action.
- June-August: Prime time for Blue Marlin, with good White Marlin, Tuna, and Wahoo catches. Fish around the full moon for the best Marlin bites.
- September-November: Wahoo dominate during the fall run, alongside Yellowfin Tuna and Billfish.
December-March: While the season slows, Wahoo and Tuna still provide excitement, weather permitting.
Many charters support 'Tag & Release' programs for Tuna and Billfish, contributing to conservation efforts and exciting recapture stories.
Popular Fishing Areas: The Argus & Challenger Banks are popular spots for deep sea fishing in Bermuda. These volcanic peaks rise dramatically from the ocean floor, creating ideal conditions for a variety of fish. The Banks' structure and depths attract bait fish, followed by larger predators, making it a haven for anglers.
Fishing Techniques: Depending on weather conditions, fishing methods include trolling along the Banks' edges using depth sounders and fish finders. During slack tides, anchoring or drift fishing near the Banks allows for 'chumming' or 'chunking' to attract Wahoo and Tuna close to the boat.
Creative Techniques: Weather permitting, kite fishing with flying fish bait rigged to a kite entices large Tuna, creating thrilling moments of strike and action.
Fly Fishing: Growing in popularity, fly fishing in saltwater requires preparation with your own flies, rods, and necessary equipment. It's an exciting way to target game fish in Bermuda's pristine waters.
